FFmpeg ya incorpora interpolación de frames acelerada por GPU NVIDIA en su rama principal de desarrollo. La función se llama FRUC y corresponde a Frame Rate Up-Conversion en desarrollo, y su implementación combina FFmpeg, frame interpolation y Vulkan para generar imágenes adicionales en vídeos existentes. El sistema analiza dos frames consecutivos, calcula cómo se desplazan los objetos entre ambos y construye una imagen intermedia. Así, un vídeo de 30 FPS puede pasar a 60 FPS, mientras que uno de 24 FPS puede convertirse en 48 FPS. No se trata de DLSS Frame Generation para juegos, sino de interpolación aplicada al vídeo.
